Critical Reception:

As per Monero movies in the context of the horizontal genre, “Doubt” is the same as the multigenre films of the polygon with an IMDb rating of 2.5 out of 10 calculated on 46 reviews.

This points to the fact that it is not very welcoming to the spectators. Nevertheless, due to the scarcity of certain user-defined critical reviews, it is difficult to undertake an in-depth evaluation of the project’s critical reception.

Analysis:

Suspicion seeks to combine elements of supernatural thriller with moral depth. This is a dark and promising premise a protagonist who is bent on seeking vengeance goes in search of black magic and instead of defeating one’s enemy, becomes 0ne killer which revenges his death, which is an appealing story arc from Nollywood towards Hollywood. Stan Nze as Voke provides insight into righteousness and the man who reaps the fruits of his decision.

Notably, the film looks into the African mystical aspects, offering cultural aspects not usually seen in mainstream cinemas. The intent of the film’s Director Tosin Igho to take African myths and mysticism to world stages is apparent. He seems to want to take those morally specified activities into the global arena.

Regrettably, however, the film seems to fall short in several of its aspects, as can be seen by its ratings on IMDb, which have been low. The plot is likely to face issues with the development of crank because of the likely hectic flow, and the building up of characters may lack certain qualities which don’t connect the characters with the viewers. Better care should have been taken during the merging of the adventures of the supernatural with the vengeful central plot to improve on the cohesiveness of the entire film.

Ably, to avoid raising the expectations of Okal Fyen (2008) and Jerry Gana (2004), ‘Suspicion’ is extensive and ambitions to differentiate itself from ordinary Nollywood serials with a distinct structure. The film further lends itself to advancing the agenda of actually depicting African black magic not as a theme within a story but an important element of the culture.

Conclusion

Suspicion aims high within the Nigerian film industry by taking a crime drama and adding a supernatural twist to it. Even though the plot seems innovative and the film has quite a fair amount of African mysticism, the way it was presented suggests that it will not appeal to everyone. For those who are keen on Nollywood’s interpretation of supernatural thrillers, “Suspicion” offers a compelling but an imperfect approach.
