AIRemedy is a drug produced by a company called Aethera which denies its customers the truth’s its claim that it enables them to breathe without restrictions. They fail to clarify that the stock is always in shortage across the world. Thus it creates mass control over humanity, but all thanks to Lazarus and the other scientific rebells it suffers from competition.

After Ella McPhee’s modeling mother, Fia McPhee, committed suicide, Ella McPhee suffered from depression but was still working for Aethera. And while attending another party looking for another potential Andy, her old ex boyfriend and now a drug addict Tully steals the polish drug ‘Spider’ from his supplier. Looking for Tully, she finds him with her dresser Gina, and shrugs off the thought only to fade into unconsciousness. When returning, she finds remnants of her ‘chitinous’ body her legs were covered in along with overcrowded claws and in their place were several spurs along with an augmented strength within her fantasies.

Having fallaciously accepted that he can never reproduce the formula, desperate Tully seeks to escape with Ella but unfortunately dies while doing so. Now the hunted, Ella escapes from desperate people including one of Tully’s friends named Boxer, and Gina. The evolution that took place in her over time is noted by Eric O’Connors who is the head of Aethera research apart from being the son of the chairman of Aethera company that deals with AI. Even though they have not participated in the development of the drug, O’Connors had kept a watch on Spider’s group and even suspected them of manipulating a synthetic substitute for AIRemedy’s main reagent. The particular substance in question was previously obtained from a now-extinct dragonfly “inadvisably free of toxins”. To him, Ella offers her unique existence following incorporation of the modified substance, which he believes is of no use for life because all of necessary adaptive reagents integrated into O’Connors DNA, in order to elude the failure which he considers inevitable.

Understanding all too well what O’Connors is trying to do, Ella flees with Solomon who is an Aethera scientist and spy in Spider’s team. He said there plans seem focused on producing an antidote for all genetically modified organisms, throughout the world unlike Aethera who only focus on specific genetic targets. After multiple stand-offs and a multi-diversion with Max being the young son of O’Connor, Ella finally encounters Lazarus who’s true identity is Angela, personal assistant of O’Connors. In order to provide mankind with alternative to survive through adaptive mutation, Ella offers her consent to participate in the plan.
